California and New York want funds for their Illegal Immigrants

New York and California are feeling the negative effects of illegal immigration. California, for example, has just reduced its statewide spending by 10% and has announced that it will have to further reduce governmental expenditures to remain complaint with state law. New York’s governor, Eliot Spitzer, is talking about the same difficulties. Both states are sanctuary states favoring illegal immigration. Spitzer recently attempted to allow illegal immigrants to have driver’s licenses and, in fact, to vote in the elections. California has openly declared that it follows a sanctuary policy.

Over the weekend the two governors got together to encourage the Federal Government to invest in major infrastructure programs that they have drawn up. I agree that the Federal Government must stop investing in the rest of the world and start rebuilding the US. These funds must not go to states with immigration policies that thwart the Federal Government’s attempt to enforce our borders. More importantly, if the Federal government approves funds for these states they will, in fact, supply jobs to illegal immigrants or will be assigning projects to companies that use illegal immigrant slave labor.

The budgets of these states are severely stressed by the costs of illegal immigration. California and New York have decided that the Federal Government should subsidize their budget shortfalls instead of asking employers who benefit from illegal immigrant slave labor to pay the additional costs. It should be remembered, States with sanctuary policies are prohibited, by law, from receiving Federal funds. Congress, by dedicating funds to these states, is breaking the very laws they passed.

This will not stop Congress from pork projects in California and New York. The great dames of Congress, Hillary Clinton (Senator New York) and Nancy Pelosi (Representative California and Speaker of the House), will disregard legislation and pump billions of dollars into their local economies making the whole country pay their irresponsible amnesty policies. It will be interesting to see what Barack Obama (Senator of Illinois), another Sanctuary State, will do. He has stated that he will eliminate pork. I truly wonder if this is the case. I believe that our future President of the United States (whether it be Clinton or Obama) will violate Federal Law and dedicate funds to sanctuary states to cover budget deficits caused by illegal immigration.

Private companies to provide National Health Care. That is an Oxymoron!

My wife and I sat through the latest Democratic Debate. They jested back and forth mostly in agreement. Amnesty for illegal aliens. Border security without a fence. Better relations with Mexico? Applause erupted from the mostly Mexican crowd in Austin. It is a shame that candidates forgot they were running for President of the United States. Somehow they believe that Texas is Mexican. I guess us white folk do not count anymore. I am not really concerned about this so much since I believe the upcoming financial disaster will trump all. It will be a shame when America blames Mexicans for the problems and true unrest focuses on Immigrants, legal and illegal alike. The blame can only be placed on the politicians who do not have the balls to tell America the truth about the economy and the problems created by dislocations of resources.

The candidates believed they would score points contrasting their health insurance programs. They have given the private insurance programs the name of national health care. Both programs are nothing more the entrenching the insurance companies farther into government just like the latest Medicare reform. Just for the record the only way America can step into the world of equality for all is what they are calling the “one payer system”. That would cost too much! Quality of care would go down. We do not want to be France.

None of these statements are true. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) the countries with the best care in the world are “One Payer Systems”. They also offer healthcare to all their citizens at ½ the cost for the same care here in the US. Perhaps the cost would go up if we intend to give healthcare to all Mexicans. The idea that somehow the quality is reduced is false. I can speak of Europe where I lived for 20 years. The national healthcare was a bit slower for some exotic treatments yet the quality of care is significantly better in Europe across the board. If you are rich and you want to pay for private insurance your treatment is even better because all national healthcare systems also have a private sector.

The most important thing about the “one payer system” is that no family’s wealth is wiped out because of an illness. No family will go bankrupt. No children will have to live on the streets because a parent gets ill. No individual has to make the choice whether to eat or buy medicine. When I was young and had 4 kids the national healthcare system was very important. It allowed me to keep my family healthy while I worked on building a future. Italy lost a bit of money on me in the short run but over time I well paid for the services rendered. Once my family was stable I received all of my care from the private system while I still paid, as part of my taxes, for the public system.

I was glad to pay when I had the funds. Without the National Healthcare System I would not have been able to create the businesses I created and the successive wealth. All of my money would have gone to paying for this or that medicine or medical visit. Healthcare in the US is used to maintain Class structure. It is designed to make sure that those without money never make it. Only the most fortunate, who never get sick, even have the chance of saving money. Slavery has not been abolished in the US, the shackles have simply changed form. I guess it is appropriate that in a world of virtual fences we have virtual chains.

Border Agent Killed by Mexican Drug Smugglers (undocumented immigrants)

Today was to be a day to talk about the tragedy known as the US economy but the death of a Border Patrol Agent in Arizona. As the primaries have become more intense and the effects of Reaganomics way heavy on US citizens, the illegal immigration problem has been put on a back burner. Similar to any truly serious problem you can forget it but it finds a way back into the forefront of discussion.

Saturday, a Border Patrol Agent, Luis Aguilar was killed while trying to stop suspected Mexican Drug Smugglers (better known as undocumented workers) on an Arizona road. The Agent was hit by two Hummers. He was placing spike strips in the road to inhibit their escape. The undocumented workers did not stop to offer assistance. The undocumented aliens did not try to miss the officer. They ran him down in cold blood.

This raises the question as to why the agent did not use deadly force. Perhaps the arrest and conviction of the two Border Patrol Agents currently serving 10 year sentences has something to do with it. The head of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff is “outraged at this tragic loss.” He went on to specify, “"I have spoken to the Mexican ambassador, who gives me both his condolences and deep assurance that their government will be resolute in tracking down the perpetrators and bringing them to swift justice."

Yah..., right. I have some swampland in Florida I will sell you at a cheap price.

Shame on you Mr. Chertoff! Shame on you Mr. Bush! Your desire to gain support of the hispanic voters in the US is not worth the life of a US citizens. Get off your buttes and release our two agents you are keeping in prison. Let our Border Patrol Personnel know that they can do their job and protect the country they love!

Mexican Government Spends $100 million on Amnesty Advertising

I am impressed. The Mexican Government is going to spend $100 million dollars on a US based Advertising Campaign to pass amnesty legislation. This is the same government that has just received $1 billion in financial aid from the US. Perhaps this is part of the deal. The US government could not directly finance the campaign and this is a kick back required by business lobbies to push legislation dedicating $1 billion taxpayer dollars to the Mexican Government.

Our economy is tanking. Government debt is out of control. The basic infrastructures in our country are falling apart from lack of funds but we think we should send $1 billion to the Mexican Government and finance Amnesty legislation that the American people have said they do not want.

Hillary Clinton, unable to debate the Illegal Immigration, calling names

www.nicholsoncartoons.com.auWe remember arguments when we were children. Whenever one side starting losing the battle name calling would become the primary defense. Liar, Liar Pants on fire! Fatso, ugly, stupid, dummy are just a few the defense mechanisms employed regularly by children. But what do we do when a Presidential candidate starts calling names?

Hillary Clinton cannot defend her position of Amnesty for criminal aliens so what does she do? She attacks one of the mouthpieces for the majority of Americans.

“We cannot fix the problem by blowing hot air like some TV commentators.”

Obviously fixing the problem for Ms. Clinton means throwing up your arms and submitting to the will of millions of criminals. Extrapolating this would mean that if 20 million Americans decided it was ok to hold up a bank for money, Ms Clinton would want to fix the problem by making it legal for any American to walk into a bank and demand money. It is also obvious that our prisons could not hold another 20 million Americans so we also need to pardon all those who had committed the crime in the past. We could call it Comprehensive Monetary Distribution Reform.

Ms. Clinton’s position for Amnesty is not defendable because these individuals have broken the law. There is no discussion. Whether or not we think the law is stupid, these individuals are criminals. Ms. Clinton would do better to say as much. Her statement could be, “These individuals are criminals. Our future policy will open the US borders removing Homeland Security controls. In light of our removing VISA and Immigration regulations these individuals no longer should be prosecuted since we no longer have immigration legislation.”

Stating that any individual “blows hot air” is childish. More importantly Ms. Clinton is a successful lawyer. I doubt that she would use such rhetoric when arguing before a Judge. This can only means that she believes Americans are childish or of limited cultural capabilities. When thinking about who will lead us into the serious changes of the next 10 years, we must consider these things. Do we really want someone as President that may respond, during a world wide crisis, “don’t listen to them, they are ugly.”

Illegal Immigration hurts Legal Immigrants!

Democrats want Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants. Republicans would prefer having Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants. They have different reasons to support Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants, none of which are the good of the nation or WE THE PEOPLE. Illegal Immigration hurts Legal Immigrants more than anyone else.

Most Americans would like to stop hearing about Illegal Immigrants. Most Americans know that Illegal Immigration drops wages across the economy. Some Americans believe Illegal Immigrants reduce the cost of goods. Some Americans believe that there are jobs Americans will not do. This last point I find absurd considering the 300 million population and 45% of adults not working (yes 45%). Billions of dollars are spent on Illegal Immigrants but many do not realize that Legal Immigrants pay a heavy price.

My wife Raffaella is a Legal Immigrant. Last year her green card was expiring. In accordance with regulations and directions of Homeland Security, she sent her renewal paperwork 90 day before the expiration. Her first green card arrived about 6 weeks after her biometric appointment. This time 6 weeks later a letter arrived indicating that her current green card was automatically renewed for one year after the previous date. I was tranquil. Homeland Security had some problems with the new passport requests and I knew they were a bit behind. The US Government would catch up, I thought. We can put a man on the Moon. We can land a bomb in the 2nd floor corner office from 150 miles away we can surely print a renewal card.

Days turned into weeks and weeks into months. Raffaella decided to get her US driver’s license. Thoughts of the DMV, incredible lines and rude people filled my nightmares. The day finally came when she felt she was prepared.

We arrived early in the morning. Strangely there were no lines; the office was disturbingly empty. I accompanied Raffaella to the counter and pulled out the binder full of documentation, passport, green card and letter from DHS. The clerk looked at the documentation and called the state trooper standing in the corner. Officer Watkins carefully read the documents. After about five minutes he walked out into the public area, handed back the documents and pulled out a page of instructions. Quietly he stated that the DMV accepted only the documents listed on the sheet.

I looked at him, not understanding. The green card, valid passport, social security card were all considered valid documents. He explained that the green card was no longer valid. I showed him the letter.

He looked at the document number at the top of the letter and responded, “We only accept the documents listed on the paper.”

I explained that these were the documents and he again responded, “We only accept the documents listed on the paper.”

I slowly began to understand and asked, “You are telling me you do not accept documents from the Department of Homeland Security?”

He again responded, “We only accept the documents listed on the paper.”

The adrenaline was flowing; my hands began to shake, and the volume of my voice became more intense.

He again responded, “We only accept the documents listed on the paper.”

He clearly was saying, “Look you idiot. The letter extending the validity is not on my sheet. I am not going to admit that DMV does not recognize DHS documents. Leave!”

I looked at him and asked why he was treating me like an idiot. I had been cordial. I did not make any negative comments about him, police officers, government or any other public officials. If he would not allow the documents from DHS, why not come clean and admit it?

The room was now filling up. Fifty people or so were more interested in understanding why the DMW would not accept documents from DHS than getting their license renewed. A small group was moving to my assistance. They could not believe that the DMV would not accept documents from DHS.

He asked us to come to his office. He continued in his normal tone telling me that he could only accept the documents listed on the paper. I asked to talk to his supervisor. He decided to make a phone call.

The supervisor asked for the documents via Fax and they sent us home with a promise of the phone call. Sure to their word, “We cannot accept the documents because the letter is not valid for a long enough period of time.”

Those who have had the privilege of doing things with the government know that there is no resolution when the government returns a blank stare. I called DHS to no avail. I went to the DHS web site to see that the renewal would have been processed within 6 months and no other information available. I sent a request only to receive a response that the renewal was “in the works” and if any further documentation were necessary I would receive a written request.

Time passed and I became concerned. Perhaps DHS had sent a request and it got lost in the mail (you know, another governmental agency which we should have faith in).

Enlightenment came while reading the Dallas morning news. DHS is opening two new regional processing facilities in North Texas. It seems that normal processing times have lengthened from about 3 months to 18 months. Following the recent crackdown more Illegal Immigrants decided to ask for residency. Yes, the crackdown is working. If required people will actually follow the law. In the first quarter of 2007 the number of applications went to just over 1.2 million overloading the system. Just think if all 24 million Illegal Immigrants actually requested residency. The application time would be over 10 years.

To this date I have no clue of when the renewal green card will arrive. Raffaella cannot get a Texas driver’s license. We have no recourse and no one to talk. We have spent over $5,000 in various fees, lawyer costs, and documents. Still a Legal Immigrant cannot do what law grants her the right to do. If she were like the 24 million Illegal Immigrants she would simply drive without a license or go to one of the sanctuary states but we believe in following the law.

If the Amnesty bill were to go forward the results would be disastrous for Legal Immigrants and for DHS. It would be impossible to execute the applications without increasing 100 fold the number of DHS employees including infrastructures, buildings and the like. Before any type of Immigration Reform can be discussed the influx of new illegal immigrants must be stopped and DHS must have sufficient manpower to handle the work. Anything else would result in anarchy. DHS could not handle the applications. Immigrants would be granted legal status without background checks. DHS could not even make sure that the appropriate fees for the applications would be paid.

Many people want to say that the poor Illegal Immigrants are suffering and they deserve special treatment. No one is defending the Legal Immigrants who are paying a high price for obeying current law. The lesson is follow the rules and get screwed. Break the law and everything will be fine. Illegal Immigration hurts Legal Immigrants more than anyone else.

Comprehensive Immigration Reform before the End of 2007

I live in one of those states where half the channels are Spanish programming. This could be a good thing since Texas is one of those states where you can get by without speaking English but if you are not proficient in Spanish you cannot get a job no matter what your education. I often listen to the Spanish evening news to see what is important to the Spanish community and how that differs from the English speaking community. The obvious difference is that illegal aliens are never referred to as illegal immigrants or criminals instead they are the undocumented victims of their right to work in the lands that were stolen from them. The news about how to get around immigration laws and the rights of illegal aliens usually fills about 15 minutes of the 30 minute broadcasts.

This past week the rhetoric has changed a bit. One politician after another, Democrats and Republicans alike, are featured in specials with one message. Without an inkling of doubt, they all declare with wide smiles and gleeful chatter that comprehensive reform with amnesty for the “poor victims of xenophobia just trying to feed their families” will be enacted before the end of 2007.

My curiosity is aroused. I have researched diligently. I do not claim to have any special knowledge about the workings of Washington but I have not found any indication that public sentiment has changed. This can only mean that the politicians who heeded the desires of citizens of the US have sold out to the promoters of slave labor and open borders. Perhaps it is was the veto of health insurance funding for children of legal residents that gives them the confidence that congress and the Whitehouse sell out the American people and defy WE THE PEOPLE. The fact is that congress and corporate America are dead set on passing this legislation.

If amnesty for criminal illegal aliens and open borders are not your idea of the way America should be going into the future then it could be important to remind your elected representative of your thoughts on the matter.

Reagonomics vs. The People of the United States of America

“Get off your lazy butts, stop whining, get a job, and invest!” Words of wisdom from the mouthpiece of the Republican Party and most vocal supporter of Reagonomics vehemently stated in response to the recent poll that found that 60% of Republicans thought Free Trade is not a good thing. He reiterated his remarks when he found that 50% of Republicans think that the US economy is going to get worse in the near future. As he spouted off against the American worker he made a few remarks that explain why our politicians do not understand what is going on in America.

The first, and most obvious, is that the DOW Jones Ind. Average is at historically high levels. He was equating the level of the stock market with the economy. This is a gross error for several reasons. Just as oil has gone up as the dollar has weakened so do stocks. Stocks are commodities with a limited addressable market. The price is usually some multiple of earnings. Since 50% of the earning of companies in the DOW are earned outside the US they return at a higher nominal value (simply 1 Euro now translates to 1.42 Dollars).

As we send more of our equity (dollars) to countries supplying us with goods and services these countries must have something to buy. Since we no longer make anything they buy stocks. Recently they bought mortgages and real estate but today they buy stocks and US Treasuries.

Finally, on an inflation adjusted basis stocks are just now at the levels of the 2000 crash. It is inappropriate to equate nominal gains in the stock market without adjusting for these levels. Should this be done most likely the stock market would be following the US economy in its downward spiral.

This same Republican Reaganomic’s mouthpiece stated that he could not understand why Americans did not feel great about the economy. After numerous years of losses in real income, Joe Worker finally had a 2.5% gain last year. He then indicated that with Core Inflation at 2% the average American gained 0.5%. He forgot to indicate that while the economy may look at long term inflation tendencies through Core (CPI) the family pays the real inflation immediately. Energy now costs twice that of just 24 months ago and food has risen over 50%. Most families are not able to survive just buying refrigerators, they must also buy food, have heat and put gasoline in their cars.

It is always valuable to tune out the rhetoric and look at the fruits when judging if something is good or bad. Economists will tell you that Free Trade is always good. The facts are that Free Trade requires enlightened self-interest. When enlightened is gone self-interest is only greed. When greed is the primary motivating factor for trade then the results are disastrous because goods are not produced with the best cost-quality relationship. They are produced where they can eliminate or move costs onto someone else.

The case is lead in toys. It is not necessary to test for lead in toys made in USA given our legislation lead paint is no longer produced. Our lead free paints cost more. China does not have this legislation therefore their paint costs less. The producer saves money. He cannot control the quality of workmanship because that would eliminate his cost advantage.

Simply said the Reaganomics, Free Trade, Open Borders HB1 VISA and Amnesty supporters are all talking the talk. They are trying to present a case without facts using talking points and buzzwords like protectionist, lazy American workers, populist, racist, etc. Tune them out and think about what is really going on around you. This is the only time that the politicians may listen to WE THE PEOPLE. Your voice must be heard.

Judge Blocks Homeland Security from Advising Employers that they are violating the law on Immigration

A Federal Judge in San Francisco extended an injunction prohibiting the Social Security Office and Department of Homeland Security from advising employers that hiring illegal aliens could result in criminal prosecution. Anti immigration supporters are despondent. I ask, “Why?” Why does the United States Government feel the necessity to advise employers that they are breaking the law before arresting them? I was also under the impression that ignorance of the law does not exclude one from prosecution for breaking the law. Why is the administration losing time sending letters? They surely did not think about what they were doing before illicitly prosecuting 2 border patrol agents for doing their job.

The fact is the administration has no desire to prosecute corporate America for breaking the law. Politicians have no desire to alienate the future majority of America. The hope is that they can somehow let time pass and the new Democratic Congress and President will be able to pass “Comprehensive Immigration Reform” including amnesty for 24+ million illegal immigrants. The US in just a few years will then pass legislation making Spanish the official language.

How long must the farce go on? There are laws. There is no need for compassion. When someone has to sneak in to enter the United States they know they are doing something they should not. When an employer sees that the SSN do not match they know that there is a problem that needs to be addressed. Instead of sending letters law enforcement should enter the work area and arrest both the illegal immigrants and the employers. If the employers have everything in order they have nothing to worry about.

It is time to start taking our future seriously. Our politicians will not do what they are paid to do. They will not follow their constitutional mandate. WE THE PEOPLE must take back our government and our country. If WE THE PEOPLE want savage immigration it should be put to a referendum and not left up to corrupt politicians and corporate America with vested interests in unlimited sources of slave labor. This is our country and our future. It is not an extension of Mexico and it is not the playground of corporate America. No matter what your thoughts on illegal immigration it is time to hold our politicians responsible.

How to fix the Mexican Problem!

Yes, the MEXICAN PROBLEM. The Mexican government is interfering in US politics creating political parties and lobbying congress for amnesty for illegal immigrants. The translation is that the Mexican government believes that Mexican citizens will be the primary beneficiaries of amnesty. This is part of globalization. This also means that Mexico is now fair game for interference from US entities. Since our political system is so corrupt our best opportunity to fix the now clearly defined Mexican problem is to fix Mexico.

Mexico is an extremely rich nation. Mexico’s oil resources are significant yet controlled by the rich ruling class. This ruling class created and maintains the poverty that encourages the Mexican population to leave their heritage and their culture to immigrate to the US. Immigration usually results in a life of menial labor. These oil resources could easily maintain the population for many years without having to work but more importantly taken out of the hands of the ruling class would encourage entrepreneurship and the development of small businesses. Mexicans do not want to leave their family and country but are forced to do so because of the extreme poverty they must endure in their home country.

Mexico is extremely corrupt; perhaps more corrupt than New Orleans. Anything can be bought. The solution to the US illegal immigration problem is to take the Mexican national oil companies. We must give oil production to private companies and pay royalty checks directly to Mexican citizens who actually live in the country.

We can do this by getting actively involved in Mexican politics. If politicians can raise $1 billion for the presidential election it should be a “no brainer” to raise the same amount of money to execute this plan. For those who support amnesty this would be a more humane approach allowing families to live together in their traditional lands and maintaining their culture without being bothered with integration into a different language and culture.

For those who want America’s laws to be enforced perhaps this is the cheapest way to accomplish the objective without creating a maze of laws and loopholes enriching only our politicians.

Why are politicians so adamantly pushing illegal immigration? Could the supporters be Racist?

Why would our politicians support illegal immigration? What are their motives for creating amnesty? Supporters will say that it is the humane thing to do. They do not want to separate families. Under this assumption we should no longer imprison mothers or fathers who commit crimes. We should not imprison sons, daughters, brothers or sisters. If we apply the entire immigration debate we should not imprison cousins, aunts or uncles of US citizens.

Some will say these illegal immigrants are only looking for a better life, doing jobs Americans will not do. This argument holds as much water as pasta colander. There are no jobs Americans will not do. Perhaps they will not do some jobs as slave labor or move to an area for a short period of time to work for minimum wage but all jobs have an equilibrium price. More importantly, why have we decided that illegal immigrants from Mexico and South America should get these jobs? What about the millions of refugees from around the world? How about the famine stricken African countries? Would these people not do the same jobs, perhaps for less money?

Politicians are not the brightest tools in the shed. They see that numerically the US is losing the battle of numbers. The European Union now counts 30% citizens and a larger GDP than the US. China’s population dwarfs the US. India is moving quickly up the “number of citizens” totem pole. US politicians believe that allowing savage immigration will help them remain important on the world stage. Even China understands that there must be balance between population and resources. China has enacted strict 1 child per couple laws in order to reduce its population.

That still does not answer why politicians want Mexicans and South Americans. Poorly educated people have more children and are easier to influence politically. Our neighbors to the border are primarily Christian. Our politicians think this is manna from heaven. Hispanics are preferable to Arabs, Slavs, Orientals, Africans and Europeans. Our politicians believe these are the perfect slaves to be preyed upon by the corporate and political machines without creating significant cultural changes. Simply said they are racist. All of those promoting amnesty without supporting free open borders from all nations are racist. They believe Mexican and Southern American Immigrants are better than anyone else.

Every time you hear that comedian knocking on the anti amnesty groups ask yourself if he makes the same type of statements supporting the refugees from Africa. Whenever you hear the LULAC or ACLU speak ask yourself, “Are they doing the same thing for immigrants from Burma or Darfur?” If you cannot say that they would support these other peoples then they are RACIST.

Reaganomics has made America Less Productive

The California Agricultural Industry believes that there will be less illegal immigrants to pick their fruits and vegetables. Strangely enough wages are rising for California farm workers. I could go on for several articles talking about how the California example relates to the rest of America’s workers and how the government has sold out Joe Citizen but there is something even more interesting emerging from the California experiment. The unintended consequences of California’s rising farm wages clearly evidences that Reaganomics has made America less competitive on the world’s stage. All economies following the Cowboy Capitalism model should take note.

As a short premise I was somewhat amazed at how technologically backward the United States was when compared to everyday business in Europe. A simple example is the digital cell phone network just implemented this year in the US. Something Europe did with GSM back in the middle 90s, a good 15 years before the US.

The California farmers are investing millions of dollars in technology to improve food safety and time to market. A $ 1 million investment reduces the number of laborers from 30 to 18 with a payback, even with slave labor wages, of just 3 years. The addiction to low cost labor resulted in loss of productivity. The predictions of 1000 percent cost increases were exaggerated. Simply put, Reaganomics and the open border policy kept the California farmers from implementing modern technology solutions that will result in better quality controls, fresher products and lower costs.

It is obvious that necessity is the mother of invention. Take away the need and there is no reason for companies to innovate. Reaganomics has seriously impeded the United States innovation favoring outdated production methods and processing and costing the US economy in both productivity and social distress. The same concepts are true across all sectors of our economy. We have favored outsourcing for short-term gains instead of investing in the infrastructures necessary for a competitive America. Our roads and bridges are failing. The US has one of the lowest broadband penetration rates of the free world. Our best and brightest, because they are poor, never get the formal training to allow them to express their full potential. Our craftsmen and artisans are making telemarketing calls because they cannot compete with contractors using illegal immigrants.

These are the fruits of Reaganomics. The supporters will scream and shout. There are many these days who vehemently defend the stupidity of Reaganomics and risk coronary failure to express their discontent with the Federal Reserves position to fight inflation. Do not listen to the verbiage. Opinions are like assholes… Take a look at the results. Reaganism and Cowboy Capitalism weaken America’s capacity to compete on global markets. Savage immigration policies like open borders reduce the number of qualified, experienced workers necessary to avoid little things like the Subprime Tsunami.

Our Elected Representatives are (snakes) really bad people

Recently outraged citizens shut down the phone lines in the house and senate. Joe Citizen wanted their representatives know what the representatives should have already known. Generally, WE THE PEOPLE, do not want a discussion on immigration policy until the current legislation is enforced and the Reagan’s promises are kept. Employers who hire illegal immigrants should go to jail and their businesses sequestered and sold at auction. The politicians decided that the “Great Compromise” would be political suicide and voted down the proposal.

This should have been the end of the discussion however Corporate America is calling in the markers. Politicians with the “sold” sign stamped on their forehead are attempting to get the legislation passed, attaching it to other bills. These insidious snakes need a serious lesson. It is time that we pick up the phones again and set our lines to automatic redial to call every office in the senate, the house and the whitehouse. Notice I am using small letters to describe these institutions.

Our government’s actions are outside of their mandate. They are not doing what they were elected to do, that is, represent WE THE PEOPLE. They do not deserve our respect instead their actions are deplorable.

I am a populous. I believe that WE THE PEOPLE are the foundation of this nation and the only reason the government exists. If our politicians are not populists then they must be eliminated from our political process. This is not a philosophical difference of opinion. It is the basis of our constitution.

Time to Change – Eliminate all Incumbent Politicians

Today I suffered through a couple of hours of Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke testifying to Barney Franks and the House Financial Services Committee. It was evident that the current administration is beginning to talk about how bad the US economy really is as they prepare for a change in the Whitehouse in the next elections, but that is another story. Listening to the representatives speak evidences that career politicians talk in sound bites and do not have the mental capability to support a single argument.

A Latino representative, I could hardly understand his English, asked about outsourcing of American jobs. He blamed the Republicans for allowing corporate America to drive down wages. He then moved immediately to ask what would happen to the US economy if all the illegal immigrants were sent home. He wanted Bernanke to say, “Sending all of the illegal immigrants home would destroy the US economy.”

Bernanke simply indicated, “Dislocations of resources would be the result.”

His answer should have been, “Reduced labor against stable demand would raise wages and benefits for the workforce!”

The real sad point, one that makes me think we must eliminate politicians and replace them with normal people who have no political experience, is that Bernanke is politically correct. If he had responded as an economist, the reason for which he was appointed as Federal Reserve Chairman, our Latino Representative would have looked like an idiot because in one breath he wants to protect the American worker. His very next breath is used to support open borders which reduces wages, benefits and working conditions for American workers.

A black representative, I believe we are still allowed to use the adjective black, asked a question about inequality. He wanted to know why blacks have twice the unemployment rate as whites. He said the game was stacked against blacks since to make it in today’s world you must have a college degree. If you are poor a college degree is 10 times harder than if you are a little white girl whose daddy is going to take out a loan on the house to pay for her college.

The representative surely was promoting some legislation to give more money to black students. This is stupid because it will only pass if you get a lot of white guys to vote for it.

Why is this representative not taking on the real problem?

Why do students have to pay to go to school?

Consider that even Ethopia offers free University education. If we want to create equal opportunity we must have free healthcare and free University for all, not just some group. Singling out a group of individuals increases dependence on the welfare state. We should not be latinos, blacks, whites, etc. We should be Americans. Our representatives, even if they speak Spanglish, should represent this country, as a whole, in good faith.

WE THE PEOPLE must take back our country. We must vote out of office all incumbent politicians. We must eliminate the Electoral College. We must institute national referendums. We must have a way to make our government fail when it no longer represents the people’s wishes. We must eliminate lobbies.

Americans are Lazy –Beginning of the End of the Republican Party

“American workers are lazy, angry, unkempt, unhygienic…” Elaine Chao. Obviously the labor Secretary is not a student of history. These same words, spoken by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan in the early 80s, ushered in the end of Japan’s economic expansion and the beginning of a twenty year long recession. The Japanese government quickly apologized and the politician was “retired”. This should have blown over. It should not have influenced Japan’s economy as it did.

The reason this tanked Japan’s economy is that the phrase was not just the words of an arrogant politician. They were a general feeling in corporate Japan and corporate America. Initially there were calls for boycotts that did not work. This should have ended there instead Americans made choices over time, they removed their investments from Japanese companies and when choosing a product, “Made in Japan”, became a negative characteristic.

Elaine Chao’s comments are pretty bad for a US labor secretary. More importantly they represent corporate America’s and the Republican parties thoughts about US workers. This too will blow over, already very few blogs are talking about it. Mass media outlets are not carrying the Secretary’s comments. It does represent the disconnect between the Republican Party and its electorate. It also represents Corporate America’s disdain for those who buy their products. If history teaches us anything we will look back on this moment, in twenty years, and say, “Remember the Republican Party? How did they ever get so far away from those who they represent?”

This may also be a good time to start looking at the company you work for in a different light. Is this what they think about you?

Times change and so do we

I do not think that my one voice made any difference in how the perception of the US is changing today. Fortunately the Immigration Bill is in critical condition and it seems that some politicians, very few in the Senate, are listening to WE THE PEOPLE. Our President is running around like a chicken with his head cut off trying to create support for a law that the population does not want. He wants a legacy. May I suggest that he think about the good of the US citizen for once and do something to help this great nation return to be great.

You may have noticed the markets are bit weaker, interest rates are accelerating with the force of the shuttle at liftoff and there is talk of inflation. It seems our Federal Reserve Board finally went to the store and tried to buy some food. How about that, inflation while real wages are falling. Hmmm, could it be that increased labor costs do not directly result in higher prices? What a novel idea. Perhaps our “leaders” will stop trying to sell us trinket policy and decide to take on the problems we face. I will not hold my breath.

This means I can write about things that are important to me. One of these is healthcare. It is so important that I am starting a company. The objective is to empower the individual and give the patient more control over the what, who, when, where and how much. Yes, I intend to dedicate my efforts in a quest worthy of Don Quixote.

The next articles will be on the topic of national healthcare, patient’s rights to privacy, too many drugs for too few patients, government Emergency Response systems (remember Katrina), Epidemic identification and control, safety in hospitals, and healthcare for Veterans (they deserve the best).

How to read a political debate without really listening

I am amazed at how similar debates occur across the world. The same arguments, or lack of them, spun to support an individual’s agenda. Talking points are the latest “dumbing down” of the debate itself but there are a few tips that can allow you to evaluate someone’s knowledge or position. Debate is never about how loudly one talks, it is about presenting an idea with supporting arguments. The louder the volume, the less one has to say. A speaker will use volume to bully the listener into submission. So if you hear someone yelling you can change the channel. They have nothing to say to you.

The immigration debate is raging, perhaps because congress is trying to pass a bill that a greater number of Americans do not want. No matter how the debate progresses, I find it quite interesting that both Republicans and Democrats want this thing to go through. In other words both special interest groups and corporate America want this piece of legislation to pass. The different interests at play should make us all think.

So if there is such great support why all the debate and how do you determine which part has something to say?

It seems that politicians are somewhat concerned about future elections. Personally, I did not vote for any Texas politicians who supported the amnesty position. In fact, I was thinking I would vote for a democrat for president for the first time in my life however, the candidate I like, supports amnesty. Therefore, in the next elections, instead of voting for a candidate, I will be voting against a candidate, again. The politicians are attempting to push this debate on Americans. Americans have already made up their mind, they either want open borders or they do not. A debate about whether Amtrak should receive public financing would generate greater participation.

It is amazing how this debate is progressing. It supports my theory about volume of the language and the lack of argumentation. Supporters of amnesty, open borders, the North American Union, or whatever you want to call it, shout or use words that attack their opponent personally. The first rule of debate is that it is not personal. An intelligent and informed person should be able to debate either side of an argument. It means they understand the question of discussion and can make an informed decision. They then choose arguments to support one side or another. Words like Racist, Demagogic, Isolationist, are like raising your voice. They attack the person and not the topic of debate.

In conclusion, remember if someone shouts or uses words to denigrate people of a different viewpoint, you can change the channel. They have nothing to say that is worth hearing.

Immigration Amnesty and the HB1 Visa

I have been amazed at how stubborn our elected representatives are. They are proceeding with legislation to fix an immigration problem that exists only for their corporate sponsors while the population of the United States wants our existing laws to be enforced. As the various politicians on the left and right try to appease their corporate cronies the resulting legislation is, to say the least, the worst of all worlds.

A few examples should evidence this point:

Microsoft, after testifying and most likely writing the portion of the bill increasing the HB1 visas, realized that this would empower the newly arrived immigrants, allowing them to work for anybody, not just Microsoft. This is totally unacceptable because while Microsoft says it pays “Prevailing Market Wages” they are concerned that the new immigrant will go to work for someone else.

The Mexican government supported amnesty groups are not happy because, while Amnesty is offered, the immigrants would have to pay some back taxes and perhaps return home. Just think, actually ask the illegal immigrants to return home.

The Mega farms, dependent on slave labor, are not happy either. They got their temporary worker program but they actually would have to check documents. This will make the new temporary workers request higher wages because they no longer have to worry about being deported.

Obviously the bill is the result of corporate collusion with government. Obviously the fence has been legislated out of existence. Obviously our politicians justify their actions saying this is the only way to secure our borders.

If this is America today there are some questions:

Why are we waging war in the rest of the world if we are unable to enforce our own borders?
If there is a shortage of qualified workers why is the medium annual compensation at historically low levels?
If a company is paying prevailing wages, why should it be concerned that the employee would go elsewhere?
Why should the US citizen believe anything politicians say? We have heard it before. Politicians pass laws without funding them. They say they will do something and they never get around to it.

The best way to fix the immigration problem is to enforce current law, fund laws passed to protect our borders, support local communities in identifying illegal immigrants and to fully prosecute all those who assist illegal immigration, including the politicians hiring illegal immigrants as maids, yard care professionals, and drivers.

Every time your President and Congress tell you that they are unable to enforce the law they are comparing America to a third world country. America is great. Do not let them say, or act, otherwise!

International Labor Day and screwing the US citizen

Somehow it seems appropriate that national demonstrations would occur on May 1, International Labor Day. While this celebration is based on horrendous atrocities propagated by a former president of the US against the middle class workers, the rest of the world has adopted this day as an opportunity to express their desire for social change. Across the US illegal immigrants are protesting for their “rights” to be legalized through Amnesty since they were able to illegally enter the US without getting caught. It also seems appropriate that just as Grover Cleveland killed striking US workers in cold blood that this day would be used to kill the US worker by passing legislation to open up US borders to the floods of less fortunate from around the world.

In a time where the US economy is under performing the rest of the world our politicians want to guarantee an inexhaustible source of slave labor to corporate America. These same politicians and business leaders are proposing cutting or eliminating contractual benefits already paid for by the working American. They are also proposing cuts to healthcare for injured military personnel, otherwise we will have to raise taxes. We can subsidize corporate America, going to war to protect American interests (read business investments in unstable parts of the world), but we cannot raise taxes on the corporations to pay for the services they are receiving.

Screw the American worker, we can always replace him with an immigrant from another country! We should be demonstrating in the streets. Protesting against corrupt politicians. Protesting against collusion between Government and Business. This is our country. Today we vote and our vote needs to say that we will not allow these politicians to continue to go against the will of the American people. Vote against any politician supporting Amnesty. Vote against any politician not supporting securing our borders. Vote against any politician not actively working to free our border agents unjustly convicted for doing their job.

Update: US Unemployment data is false

It is time for an update. I have wanted to see how many dishonest, lying people will continue to saying things like “Jobs Americans won’t do” and “insufficient skilled labor!” The importance of this problem was brought home during a heated debate on FOX news between O’Reilly and Geraldo Rivera. Mr. Rivera, notice the ethnic origin, indicated that the illegal immigrant who killed two girls while driving drunk was not a failure of the US government’s decision not to enforce immigration law instead it was a problem of drunk driving. He further went on to say, “with 4.4% unemployment… we cannot punish people we asked to come to the US…”

No matter how you feel about drunk driving or this particular question there is a serious problem here. First, “WE THE PEOPLE” did not ask anyone to come here illegally and work for lower wages. Remember corporations are not people. WE THE PEOPLE do not benefit from the slave labor wages, most everything goes to lower costs increasing margins and allowing multimillion dollar salaries for Executive Management of Corporation and kickbacks to politicians. Second, you cannot deny that if the illegal immigrant had been deported when convicted twice previously he most likely would not have been in the US. Finally if we enforced our borders he would not have come in the first place. Open borders are an invitation for the criminals in one society to escape prosecution going into another country.

The proponents of Amnesty are using the false governmental data to support their arguments. Bill Gates and company are using the same data to say that they cannot find skilled workers. This is all bull. We have another WMD situation here. False information provided to influence public opinion to support something that most Americans would not have supported otherwise.

I will provide the update of my job survey later on this week. I think you will be amazed. I am living proof that there is no shortage of skilled labor, at fair market wages, in the US market. Check back over the weekend.
