California and New York want funds for their Illegal Immigrants

New York and California are feeling the negative effects of illegal immigration. California, for example, has just reduced its statewide spending by 10% and has announced that it will have to further reduce governmental expenditures to remain complaint with state law. New York’s governor, Eliot Spitzer, is talking about the same difficulties. Both states are sanctuary states favoring illegal immigration. Spitzer recently attempted to allow illegal immigrants to have driver’s licenses and, in fact, to vote in the elections. California has openly declared that it follows a sanctuary policy.

Over the weekend the two governors got together to encourage the Federal Government to invest in major infrastructure programs that they have drawn up. I agree that the Federal Government must stop investing in the rest of the world and start rebuilding the US. These funds must not go to states with immigration policies that thwart the Federal Government’s attempt to enforce our borders. More importantly, if the Federal government approves funds for these states they will, in fact, supply jobs to illegal immigrants or will be assigning projects to companies that use illegal immigrant slave labor.

The budgets of these states are severely stressed by the costs of illegal immigration. California and New York have decided that the Federal Government should subsidize their budget shortfalls instead of asking employers who benefit from illegal immigrant slave labor to pay the additional costs. It should be remembered, States with sanctuary policies are prohibited, by law, from receiving Federal funds. Congress, by dedicating funds to these states, is breaking the very laws they passed.

This will not stop Congress from pork projects in California and New York. The great dames of Congress, Hillary Clinton (Senator New York) and Nancy Pelosi (Representative California and Speaker of the House), will disregard legislation and pump billions of dollars into their local economies making the whole country pay their irresponsible amnesty policies. It will be interesting to see what Barack Obama (Senator of Illinois), another Sanctuary State, will do. He has stated that he will eliminate pork. I truly wonder if this is the case. I believe that our future President of the United States (whether it be Clinton or Obama) will violate Federal Law and dedicate funds to sanctuary states to cover budget deficits caused by illegal immigration.

China Uses Trade Surplus to wage Economic War for Natural Resources

BHP Billiton, a publicly traded company, made an offer to buy competitor another publicly traded company, Rio Tinto. These two companies own and operate mines across the world. They extract raw materials necessary for sustained economic growth. Most government’s around the world want to look at the merger to address anti-trust concerns. China decided to take another road to guarantee access to raw materials.

The Motley Fool reports:

You can't call Aluminum Corporation of China (NYSE: ACH), a.k.a. Chalco, a piker. Late last week, Chalco, in partnership with Alcoa (NYSE: AA), threw a monkey wrench into BHP Billiton's (NYSE: BHP) unsolicited offer for Rio Tinto (NYSE: RTP) by paying a shade more than $14 billion to take a 9% stake in dual-listed Rio.

Both houses of Congress are looking at investments by foreign governments in U.S. assets. The world’s largest Souvern Fund is Norwegian. They publish both their rules of investment and their current portfolio. Their rules include that they never take more than a 5% position in any company. They never take a management or advisory role. Most of their investments are less 0.5% of a company’s stock. The Norwegian fund also prohibits itself from making alliances with other funds for strategic purposes. To their credit no questions have ever been raised about their motives for investing in a US asset. They are truly passive investors.

China has shown that its concern is not making a financial return. Their intentions are clearly to wage economic war over resources to guarantee their future dominance of world markets. The Middle Eastern and Russian funds should be seen with the same perspective.

Henry Hank Paulsen is meeting with the G7 this month to discuss voluntary guidelines for Souvern Funds and the way they invest. I believe that the U.S. should automatically block any investment from Souvern Funds that do not adhere, in totality, to these guidelines.

Border Agent Killed by Mexican Drug Smugglers (undocumented immigrants)

Today was to be a day to talk about the tragedy known as the US economy but the death of a Border Patrol Agent in Arizona. As the primaries have become more intense and the effects of Reaganomics way heavy on US citizens, the illegal immigration problem has been put on a back burner. Similar to any truly serious problem you can forget it but it finds a way back into the forefront of discussion.

Saturday, a Border Patrol Agent, Luis Aguilar was killed while trying to stop suspected Mexican Drug Smugglers (better known as undocumented workers) on an Arizona road. The Agent was hit by two Hummers. He was placing spike strips in the road to inhibit their escape. The undocumented workers did not stop to offer assistance. The undocumented aliens did not try to miss the officer. They ran him down in cold blood.

This raises the question as to why the agent did not use deadly force. Perhaps the arrest and conviction of the two Border Patrol Agents currently serving 10 year sentences has something to do with it. The head of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff is “outraged at this tragic loss.” He went on to specify, “"I have spoken to the Mexican ambassador, who gives me both his condolences and deep assurance that their government will be resolute in tracking down the perpetrators and bringing them to swift justice."

Yah..., right. I have some swampland in Florida I will sell you at a cheap price.

Shame on you Mr. Chertoff! Shame on you Mr. Bush! Your desire to gain support of the hispanic voters in the US is not worth the life of a US citizens. Get off your buttes and release our two agents you are keeping in prison. Let our Border Patrol Personnel know that they can do their job and protect the country they love!

Mexican Government Spends $100 million on Amnesty Advertising

I am impressed. The Mexican Government is going to spend $100 million dollars on a US based Advertising Campaign to pass amnesty legislation. This is the same government that has just received $1 billion in financial aid from the US. Perhaps this is part of the deal. The US government could not directly finance the campaign and this is a kick back required by business lobbies to push legislation dedicating $1 billion taxpayer dollars to the Mexican Government.

Our economy is tanking. Government debt is out of control. The basic infrastructures in our country are falling apart from lack of funds but we think we should send $1 billion to the Mexican Government and finance Amnesty legislation that the American people have said they do not want.

Illegal Immigration hurts Legal Immigrants!

Democrats want Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants. Republicans would prefer having Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants. They have different reasons to support Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants, none of which are the good of the nation or WE THE PEOPLE. Illegal Immigration hurts Legal Immigrants more than anyone else.

Most Americans would like to stop hearing about Illegal Immigrants. Most Americans know that Illegal Immigration drops wages across the economy. Some Americans believe Illegal Immigrants reduce the cost of goods. Some Americans believe that there are jobs Americans will not do. This last point I find absurd considering the 300 million population and 45% of adults not working (yes 45%). Billions of dollars are spent on Illegal Immigrants but many do not realize that Legal Immigrants pay a heavy price.

My wife Raffaella is a Legal Immigrant. Last year her green card was expiring. In accordance with regulations and directions of Homeland Security, she sent her renewal paperwork 90 day before the expiration. Her first green card arrived about 6 weeks after her biometric appointment. This time 6 weeks later a letter arrived indicating that her current green card was automatically renewed for one year after the previous date. I was tranquil. Homeland Security had some problems with the new passport requests and I knew they were a bit behind. The US Government would catch up, I thought. We can put a man on the Moon. We can land a bomb in the 2nd floor corner office from 150 miles away we can surely print a renewal card.

Days turned into weeks and weeks into months. Raffaella decided to get her US driver’s license. Thoughts of the DMV, incredible lines and rude people filled my nightmares. The day finally came when she felt she was prepared.

We arrived early in the morning. Strangely there were no lines; the office was disturbingly empty. I accompanied Raffaella to the counter and pulled out the binder full of documentation, passport, green card and letter from DHS. The clerk looked at the documentation and called the state trooper standing in the corner. Officer Watkins carefully read the documents. After about five minutes he walked out into the public area, handed back the documents and pulled out a page of instructions. Quietly he stated that the DMV accepted only the documents listed on the sheet.

I looked at him, not understanding. The green card, valid passport, social security card were all considered valid documents. He explained that the green card was no longer valid. I showed him the letter.

He looked at the document number at the top of the letter and responded, “We only accept the documents listed on the paper.”

I explained that these were the documents and he again responded, “We only accept the documents listed on the paper.”

I slowly began to understand and asked, “You are telling me you do not accept documents from the Department of Homeland Security?”

He again responded, “We only accept the documents listed on the paper.”

The adrenaline was flowing; my hands began to shake, and the volume of my voice became more intense.

He again responded, “We only accept the documents listed on the paper.”

He clearly was saying, “Look you idiot. The letter extending the validity is not on my sheet. I am not going to admit that DMV does not recognize DHS documents. Leave!”

I looked at him and asked why he was treating me like an idiot. I had been cordial. I did not make any negative comments about him, police officers, government or any other public officials. If he would not allow the documents from DHS, why not come clean and admit it?

The room was now filling up. Fifty people or so were more interested in understanding why the DMW would not accept documents from DHS than getting their license renewed. A small group was moving to my assistance. They could not believe that the DMV would not accept documents from DHS.

He asked us to come to his office. He continued in his normal tone telling me that he could only accept the documents listed on the paper. I asked to talk to his supervisor. He decided to make a phone call.

The supervisor asked for the documents via Fax and they sent us home with a promise of the phone call. Sure to their word, “We cannot accept the documents because the letter is not valid for a long enough period of time.”

Those who have had the privilege of doing things with the government know that there is no resolution when the government returns a blank stare. I called DHS to no avail. I went to the DHS web site to see that the renewal would have been processed within 6 months and no other information available. I sent a request only to receive a response that the renewal was “in the works” and if any further documentation were necessary I would receive a written request.

Time passed and I became concerned. Perhaps DHS had sent a request and it got lost in the mail (you know, another governmental agency which we should have faith in).

Enlightenment came while reading the Dallas morning news. DHS is opening two new regional processing facilities in North Texas. It seems that normal processing times have lengthened from about 3 months to 18 months. Following the recent crackdown more Illegal Immigrants decided to ask for residency. Yes, the crackdown is working. If required people will actually follow the law. In the first quarter of 2007 the number of applications went to just over 1.2 million overloading the system. Just think if all 24 million Illegal Immigrants actually requested residency. The application time would be over 10 years.

To this date I have no clue of when the renewal green card will arrive. Raffaella cannot get a Texas driver’s license. We have no recourse and no one to talk. We have spent over $5,000 in various fees, lawyer costs, and documents. Still a Legal Immigrant cannot do what law grants her the right to do. If she were like the 24 million Illegal Immigrants she would simply drive without a license or go to one of the sanctuary states but we believe in following the law.

If the Amnesty bill were to go forward the results would be disastrous for Legal Immigrants and for DHS. It would be impossible to execute the applications without increasing 100 fold the number of DHS employees including infrastructures, buildings and the like. Before any type of Immigration Reform can be discussed the influx of new illegal immigrants must be stopped and DHS must have sufficient manpower to handle the work. Anything else would result in anarchy. DHS could not handle the applications. Immigrants would be granted legal status without background checks. DHS could not even make sure that the appropriate fees for the applications would be paid.

Many people want to say that the poor Illegal Immigrants are suffering and they deserve special treatment. No one is defending the Legal Immigrants who are paying a high price for obeying current law. The lesson is follow the rules and get screwed. Break the law and everything will be fine. Illegal Immigration hurts Legal Immigrants more than anyone else.

Vice President Cheney announced enhanced sanctions against Iran

Our government is at it again. It seems that President Bush has been convinced that he is the only one in a position to stop Iran from furthering its nuclear programs. In a widely anticipated move the Vice President Dick Cheney announced enhanced sanctions against Iran stating that the US would freeze assets of banks and a few individuals. Additionally any individual, company or country “doing business” with Iran would suffer the same sanctions and be prohibited from doing business with America and the US financial institutions.

For some reason our government thinks that threatening something it cannot deliver will do any good. Perhaps our government could take a lesson from Sheriff Buford, “Speak softly and carry a big stick.” We speak loudly and try to bitch slap someone to make others think we have a big stick. Perhaps buying a fancy sports car for our President and Vice President would be more effective.

Germany, imports 1 percent of its oil from Iran, and France, gets 6 percent, Italy and Japan would be taking the largest hits. The assessment is considered internally "an initial -- first blush -- estimate based on each country's overall volume of exports to Iran, dependence on Iranian oil and degree of investment in Iran oil projects," according to the Treasury memo.

Japan exports nearly $1.3 billion worth of goods to Iran, has nearly $2 billion worth of oil projects there and gets about 12 percent of its oil from the country, which is approximately equivalent to what the United States buys from Saudi Arabia. Italy buys 9 percent of its oil from Iran, and has $3.2 billion in oil investments in the country and $2.7 billion worth of exports to Iran.

I can assure you that these countries will not impose sanctions. I can also indicate without a doubt that China and Russia will not interrupt trade with Iran. Thus our government has told us that we will no longer import goods from Russia. Italian shoes and fashion will no longer be available at Saks and Nordstrom. The only Caviar available will be smuggled and French wines will be stopped in the ports.
Many friends ask me why Europeans have such low esteem of the United States and its foreign policy. It is actions like these that just leave the Europeans chuckling. The perception is that America wants to be a bully but then cowers in the corner when confronted.

We need to build credibility. It is not about making friends as the Democrats would say, it is about thinking about the consequences and whether or not what we say can actually be done and that there is the will to do something.
Our President needs to cool his jets. We do not need to be spouting off. If the world feels that Iran is a problem then the rest of the world needs to take the lead and we can support them.

Comprehensive Immigration Reform before the End of 2007

I live in one of those states where half the channels are Spanish programming. This could be a good thing since Texas is one of those states where you can get by without speaking English but if you are not proficient in Spanish you cannot get a job no matter what your education. I often listen to the Spanish evening news to see what is important to the Spanish community and how that differs from the English speaking community. The obvious difference is that illegal aliens are never referred to as illegal immigrants or criminals instead they are the undocumented victims of their right to work in the lands that were stolen from them. The news about how to get around immigration laws and the rights of illegal aliens usually fills about 15 minutes of the 30 minute broadcasts.

This past week the rhetoric has changed a bit. One politician after another, Democrats and Republicans alike, are featured in specials with one message. Without an inkling of doubt, they all declare with wide smiles and gleeful chatter that comprehensive reform with amnesty for the “poor victims of xenophobia just trying to feed their families” will be enacted before the end of 2007.

My curiosity is aroused. I have researched diligently. I do not claim to have any special knowledge about the workings of Washington but I have not found any indication that public sentiment has changed. This can only mean that the politicians who heeded the desires of citizens of the US have sold out to the promoters of slave labor and open borders. Perhaps it is was the veto of health insurance funding for children of legal residents that gives them the confidence that congress and the Whitehouse sell out the American people and defy WE THE PEOPLE. The fact is that congress and corporate America are dead set on passing this legislation.

If amnesty for criminal illegal aliens and open borders are not your idea of the way America should be going into the future then it could be important to remind your elected representative of your thoughts on the matter.

Decision of the Century –Crossroad Choice Centralized Communist or Distributed Economy

For some reason Ronald Reagan is given credit for tearing down the Berlin wall. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The fall of Communism and the breakup of the USSR was solely due to Mikhail Gorbachev’s vision of a better future and the total economic failure of the centralized economy. The Centralized economy is based on the belief that goods and services should be produced freely in places where labor is less expensive. It also is based on the belief that big structures are more efficient than smaller structures. It only took about 50 years for this economic structure to destroy Russia’s infrastructures and dilapidate their country’s wealth.

The nation is terribly divided about what political party is better than the other. There is also a new group of citizens, like myself, who think that both are corrupt and decadent and should be eliminated. The politicians have been successful convincing many Americans that the problem is with the other party but America is strong. I sustain that we should completely forget the politicians and look at what our economic and political structure has become. A comparison between the US and the falling USSR could be valuable.

The USSR controlled the people by making the government more important than the people. They played on national pride to justify the actions of the KGB. Today we have a very similar situation with all law enforcement but exaggerated with Homeland Security. District Attorneys use their position to steamroll the justice process for their own personal ambitions. One such example could be Elliot Spitzer who prosecuted Martha Stewart for lying to the government. Another could be the Pro Mexican Attorney General who successfully prosecuted two border agents for doing their job when the clear indications from the central government were to allow Illegal Aliens to freely cross the US border with drugs.

The invasion of personal privacy by the citizens of the USSR would have been tolerated if the economy had been good. Unfortunately centralized production facilities are just bad business. Whenever an event affects anyone of these structures then the entire nation suffers. It is like playing the lottery with your entire paycheck every month. Who knows you may win but if you lose there is little to eat over the next weeks. Reaganomics introduced the concept that it was acceptable to have monopolistic structures that use size and financial capabilities to destroy small businesses. It is now acceptable to hear companies indicate that their growth strategy is, “Growth through Acquisition.” In other words if you cannot build a better product at a reasonable price buy them and eliminate the competition.

The USSR further compounded their problems by not investing in the distributed economy. It was only important to protect their major production facilities. Roads, bridges, utilities, telecommunications, and other basic infrastructures did not receive sufficient funding. There just was not enough money. We are seeing the same problems across the US. Hurricanes break levies in New Orleans, bridges collapse in Minnesota, pipes explode in New York, and roads are engulfed in huge sink holds in Texas, just to name a few.

As the corruption of Russia’s political scene progressed the entire economy became less efficient. Unemployment grew, inflation raged, meanwhile the government continued with their talking points, “We are the greatest nation on the face of the Earth.” Perhaps we can find some similarities with our politicians telling us that the economy is strong while we see GDP fall, public debt increases, and the government is no longer able to maintain its contractual agreements with the citizens of the US.

If we continue down the current path we can only expect to realize a future like the USSR’s past. Unfortunately with the current group of crooks running for office nothing will change no matter how we vote. We need new blood. People who are actually interested in “Public Service” and doing the good of the nation. We need to mitigate the mega corporation’s capability to destroy small businesses. We need change. Real Change.

Hugo Chavez American Citizen’s best Friend?

It appears that Hugo Chavez is really American Citizen’s best friend. As preposterous as this may sound this became evident during Larry King’s interview with Vicente Fox. It seems that our President and Vincente Fox have put together a plan to create a country of the Americas. This was already coming to bear when Hugo Chavez stopped the entire thing with his nationalist agenda.

NAFTA was just the first step toward a union of the Americas similar to the European Union. The first step is the free transit of trucks (we already have that). The second is the elimination of borders, labor laws and finally a single currency. When asked why Americans would ever accept this type of union, Mr. Fox indicated that America is so in debt that continuing down this path will result in a complete devaluation of the dollar. Quoting Mr. Fox, “With America’s debt citizens will be begging for a stronger currency!”

This explains many things. It explains why Mexico’s Parliament lobbies Congress. It explains why the Mexican government has created political parties here in the US. It explains why Mexico can interfere in Texas Judicial system. It also explains why our politicians listen to them.

An Americas union may be something US citizens want. It should not be done in secret by corporate America. When the European Union started way back in the late 60s the entire program was put to national referendums. As each piece of the puzzle went ahead it had to be approved again by referendum. The countries we call stupid, lazy, commies wanted their citizens to approve what the government was doing. I call that a democracy. You know, a government by, of and for the people.

This must be what our President was saying when he said that Congress must show leadership. Translated, “who cares what the American citizen wants? Just do this thing!”

Reaganomics has brought our country to the brink of disaster with the loss of our freedom and those things that made America great. It is no longer possible to take on every attack. It is time that we shut down the government. We need time to see the truth and understand what all of the challenges are. I have never sustained a pulling out of IRAQ but the enemies we face here at home are so insidious that all of our attention must be hear in the homeland. Our “leaders” are out of control. They have forgotten who they work for. We must clean house. Get rid of everyone and start over. We must amend the constitution to give final authority on all major issues to the people. It will be a pain having a referendum with a series of questions every month but desperate situations require desperate solutions.

We must also thank Hugo Chavez for stopping our government before we even knew we had a problem.

Judge Blocks Homeland Security from Advising Employers that they are violating the law on Immigration

A Federal Judge in San Francisco extended an injunction prohibiting the Social Security Office and Department of Homeland Security from advising employers that hiring illegal aliens could result in criminal prosecution. Anti immigration supporters are despondent. I ask, “Why?” Why does the United States Government feel the necessity to advise employers that they are breaking the law before arresting them? I was also under the impression that ignorance of the law does not exclude one from prosecution for breaking the law. Why is the administration losing time sending letters? They surely did not think about what they were doing before illicitly prosecuting 2 border patrol agents for doing their job.

The fact is the administration has no desire to prosecute corporate America for breaking the law. Politicians have no desire to alienate the future majority of America. The hope is that they can somehow let time pass and the new Democratic Congress and President will be able to pass “Comprehensive Immigration Reform” including amnesty for 24+ million illegal immigrants. The US in just a few years will then pass legislation making Spanish the official language.

How long must the farce go on? There are laws. There is no need for compassion. When someone has to sneak in to enter the United States they know they are doing something they should not. When an employer sees that the SSN do not match they know that there is a problem that needs to be addressed. Instead of sending letters law enforcement should enter the work area and arrest both the illegal immigrants and the employers. If the employers have everything in order they have nothing to worry about.

It is time to start taking our future seriously. Our politicians will not do what they are paid to do. They will not follow their constitutional mandate. WE THE PEOPLE must take back our government and our country. If WE THE PEOPLE want savage immigration it should be put to a referendum and not left up to corrupt politicians and corporate America with vested interests in unlimited sources of slave labor. This is our country and our future. It is not an extension of Mexico and it is not the playground of corporate America. No matter what your thoughts on illegal immigration it is time to hold our politicians responsible.

How to fix the Mexican Problem!

Yes, the MEXICAN PROBLEM. The Mexican government is interfering in US politics creating political parties and lobbying congress for amnesty for illegal immigrants. The translation is that the Mexican government believes that Mexican citizens will be the primary beneficiaries of amnesty. This is part of globalization. This also means that Mexico is now fair game for interference from US entities. Since our political system is so corrupt our best opportunity to fix the now clearly defined Mexican problem is to fix Mexico.

Mexico is an extremely rich nation. Mexico’s oil resources are significant yet controlled by the rich ruling class. This ruling class created and maintains the poverty that encourages the Mexican population to leave their heritage and their culture to immigrate to the US. Immigration usually results in a life of menial labor. These oil resources could easily maintain the population for many years without having to work but more importantly taken out of the hands of the ruling class would encourage entrepreneurship and the development of small businesses. Mexicans do not want to leave their family and country but are forced to do so because of the extreme poverty they must endure in their home country.

Mexico is extremely corrupt; perhaps more corrupt than New Orleans. Anything can be bought. The solution to the US illegal immigration problem is to take the Mexican national oil companies. We must give oil production to private companies and pay royalty checks directly to Mexican citizens who actually live in the country.

We can do this by getting actively involved in Mexican politics. If politicians can raise $1 billion for the presidential election it should be a “no brainer” to raise the same amount of money to execute this plan. For those who support amnesty this would be a more humane approach allowing families to live together in their traditional lands and maintaining their culture without being bothered with integration into a different language and culture.

For those who want America’s laws to be enforced perhaps this is the cheapest way to accomplish the objective without creating a maze of laws and loopholes enriching only our politicians.

Why are politicians so adamantly pushing illegal immigration? Could the supporters be Racist?

Why would our politicians support illegal immigration? What are their motives for creating amnesty? Supporters will say that it is the humane thing to do. They do not want to separate families. Under this assumption we should no longer imprison mothers or fathers who commit crimes. We should not imprison sons, daughters, brothers or sisters. If we apply the entire immigration debate we should not imprison cousins, aunts or uncles of US citizens.

Some will say these illegal immigrants are only looking for a better life, doing jobs Americans will not do. This argument holds as much water as pasta colander. There are no jobs Americans will not do. Perhaps they will not do some jobs as slave labor or move to an area for a short period of time to work for minimum wage but all jobs have an equilibrium price. More importantly, why have we decided that illegal immigrants from Mexico and South America should get these jobs? What about the millions of refugees from around the world? How about the famine stricken African countries? Would these people not do the same jobs, perhaps for less money?

Politicians are not the brightest tools in the shed. They see that numerically the US is losing the battle of numbers. The European Union now counts 30% citizens and a larger GDP than the US. China’s population dwarfs the US. India is moving quickly up the “number of citizens” totem pole. US politicians believe that allowing savage immigration will help them remain important on the world stage. Even China understands that there must be balance between population and resources. China has enacted strict 1 child per couple laws in order to reduce its population.

That still does not answer why politicians want Mexicans and South Americans. Poorly educated people have more children and are easier to influence politically. Our neighbors to the border are primarily Christian. Our politicians think this is manna from heaven. Hispanics are preferable to Arabs, Slavs, Orientals, Africans and Europeans. Our politicians believe these are the perfect slaves to be preyed upon by the corporate and political machines without creating significant cultural changes. Simply said they are racist. All of those promoting amnesty without supporting free open borders from all nations are racist. They believe Mexican and Southern American Immigrants are better than anyone else.

Every time you hear that comedian knocking on the anti amnesty groups ask yourself if he makes the same type of statements supporting the refugees from Africa. Whenever you hear the LULAC or ACLU speak ask yourself, “Are they doing the same thing for immigrants from Burma or Darfur?” If you cannot say that they would support these other peoples then they are RACIST.

America under Siege – The ills of Collusion between Corporations and Government

US corporations have knowingly flooded the US market with unsafe products. The latest are Mattel and Disney. Their mega salaries are more important that your child’s life. Congress was outraged! They called hearings to bring to task these bad corporations. Humbly the leaders of Mattel and Disney testified that they had no clue that the Chinese did not follow the same safety procedures that a US manufacturer would employ. They used fancy charts to explain how they would do better in the future. It reminds me of the little boy who throws his sister down the stairs and when questioned by his parents he responds, “You say she’s an angel. I thought she could fly.”

The US dollar is tanking on its way to $ 1.50 against the Euro. A falling dollar is inflationary since our economy imports 72% of the goods it consumes and run a $ 1 trillion annual trade deficit. The dollar is falling because we are using our national equity to fund purchases, spending money like drunken sailors in some far away port. Inflation is high even though governmental data has decided to remove food and energy from their data points. Unemployment is estimated somewhere around 12% even though the government only counts people unemployed for 4 months then they simply disappear.

In this scenario, because greedy corporations have made bad loans corporate America has called for reduced interest rates and it seems that the FED will accommodate them. This is a really bad decision. First of all, companies should take their licking. They made bad business decisions. I have not seen the government offering to replenish citizens savings lost during the period of irrational exuberance. Most importantly the reducing the FED funds rate will make investments in US securities less attractive. This will further pressure the dollar in its downward death dive. Lower interest rates will make money more available for bad investments by companies looking for their million dollar bonuses. More money supply will create greater internal inflationary pressures.

I will not even talk about how US unions, since they have falling membership rates among Americans, are filing proceedings intended simply to stop ICE from enforcing immigration. Because corporations want cheap slave labor we have jailed agents who simply are doing their jobs.

We have gone to war to fight an invisible enemy. How about a war against real enemies? We say we do not have sufficient law enforcement personnel to take on illegal immigration but we have sufficient law enforcement to send 30 police cars from two cities to break into a private home during the 18th birthday party of a teenager. The house had about 20 dangerous criminals sitting around the living rooms chatting and drinking beer.

There is something wrong with our country when we think that someone is old enough to fight and die for their country but not old enough to have a beer. There is something even more wrong when we dedicate law enforcement personnel to enforcing religious legislation and we totally ignore criminals.

Will The US Government Bailout the Chinese Banks on Sub Prime?

Bad economic policy by the US Government, corporate cronyism, comprehensive financial incompetence, and 30 years of disastrous interior and trade policies of Reaganomics will force you and I to bailout the Chinese Banks for about $ 300 billion. Impossible? On August 23rd the major Chinese Banks announced their exposure to US Sub Prime mortgages. The Chinese banks are in to the US homeowner for about $300 billion. That is more than any group of US based banks.

The banks immediately explained, “Standard & Poors, the US debt-rating agency, rated these loans within our statute parameters."

This sounds like a threat for future legal action to procure retribution. China also owns a great portion of US governmental debt. China has threatened to sell their holdings of both US currency and Governmental paper over much less important things. The US economy only produces 18% of consumption. A trade war would result in public panic, hoarding and empty store shelves.

The US cannot allow the Chinese to get upset about their loss. The politicians may determine they are less scared of the US voter than the Chinese government and intervene directly. It seems more likely that the US government will act more covertly. Today the Federal Reserve weakened its requirements even further. The FED is now allowing banks to provide “commercial paper” as guarantees and significantly increased the amount of money these banks can borrow.

Yesterday, it seems, the FED bailed out Countrywide Financial. Today it started financing the repurchase of Chinese owned Sub Prime debt. Nice to know that our government is using our tax dollars to take care of the US citizen instead of protecting greedy financial operators from losses. Justification for the FEDs action came so ingenuously truthful from a primary economic analyst.

What did you want the FED to do, allow the country to enter a prolonged period of depression that will make the 1930s seem like an economic boom?

The financial, economic and internal production situation in the US is precarious at best. Our Government must stop playing games and come clean with the American people so we can take on these problems. We are not talking about protecting America from a few terrorists who want to blow us up. We are talking about protecting America from the destruction of our economy that will leave hundreds of thousands dying of hunger. Come to think of it this may be Bush’s legacy. The only President except Hoover to reduce America’s waist size.

Infrastructures, Economy Tanking and Food Poisoning

So many events, what to discuss this week? It seems, thinking about politics and politicians, only negative things come to mind. Some will say that Americans want someone to blame for everything bad that happens. I believe it is more that Americans are very lucky. Notwithstanding our superficial “what have you done for me today” mentality, the United States has not suffered too much. I am not sure if it is just the law of probability working in our favor or somehow we are more resilient than other nations. Any way you look at it, we are lucky.

Our infrastructures need several trillion dollars in repairs, not new construction, simply repairs. One third of our population is “Food Insecure”. Product recalls for dangerous and poisonous products occur at about 1 a week. Some come from China. Some are homegrown. All are the result of economic policy that favors short-term thinking and is the result of corruption. Someone is making a buck at the expense of our nation’s physical and economic health.

The most recent data suggests that Hillary Clinton will win the next election and that most Americans are not concerned about political dynasties. In other words, most Americans do not see a need for change. Change cannot occur if it is not desired. We cannot build a better future if we do not see anything to improve today. A baby boomer friend explained it to me this way. “I suffered, I paid the price. I have been there and got the T Shirt. My children and grandchildren can pay their dues.”

What can I respond to that? A government really is the face of the people.

How to read a political debate without really listening

I am amazed at how similar debates occur across the world. The same arguments, or lack of them, spun to support an individual’s agenda. Talking points are the latest “dumbing down” of the debate itself but there are a few tips that can allow you to evaluate someone’s knowledge or position. Debate is never about how loudly one talks, it is about presenting an idea with supporting arguments. The louder the volume, the less one has to say. A speaker will use volume to bully the listener into submission. So if you hear someone yelling you can change the channel. They have nothing to say to you.

The immigration debate is raging, perhaps because congress is trying to pass a bill that a greater number of Americans do not want. No matter how the debate progresses, I find it quite interesting that both Republicans and Democrats want this thing to go through. In other words both special interest groups and corporate America want this piece of legislation to pass. The different interests at play should make us all think.

So if there is such great support why all the debate and how do you determine which part has something to say?

It seems that politicians are somewhat concerned about future elections. Personally, I did not vote for any Texas politicians who supported the amnesty position. In fact, I was thinking I would vote for a democrat for president for the first time in my life however, the candidate I like, supports amnesty. Therefore, in the next elections, instead of voting for a candidate, I will be voting against a candidate, again. The politicians are attempting to push this debate on Americans. Americans have already made up their mind, they either want open borders or they do not. A debate about whether Amtrak should receive public financing would generate greater participation.

It is amazing how this debate is progressing. It supports my theory about volume of the language and the lack of argumentation. Supporters of amnesty, open borders, the North American Union, or whatever you want to call it, shout or use words that attack their opponent personally. The first rule of debate is that it is not personal. An intelligent and informed person should be able to debate either side of an argument. It means they understand the question of discussion and can make an informed decision. They then choose arguments to support one side or another. Words like Racist, Demagogic, Isolationist, are like raising your voice. They attack the person and not the topic of debate.

In conclusion, remember if someone shouts or uses words to denigrate people of a different viewpoint, you can change the channel. They have nothing to say that is worth hearing.

Immigration Amnesty and the HB1 Visa

I have been amazed at how stubborn our elected representatives are. They are proceeding with legislation to fix an immigration problem that exists only for their corporate sponsors while the population of the United States wants our existing laws to be enforced. As the various politicians on the left and right try to appease their corporate cronies the resulting legislation is, to say the least, the worst of all worlds.

A few examples should evidence this point:

Microsoft, after testifying and most likely writing the portion of the bill increasing the HB1 visas, realized that this would empower the newly arrived immigrants, allowing them to work for anybody, not just Microsoft. This is totally unacceptable because while Microsoft says it pays “Prevailing Market Wages” they are concerned that the new immigrant will go to work for someone else.

The Mexican government supported amnesty groups are not happy because, while Amnesty is offered, the immigrants would have to pay some back taxes and perhaps return home. Just think, actually ask the illegal immigrants to return home.

The Mega farms, dependent on slave labor, are not happy either. They got their temporary worker program but they actually would have to check documents. This will make the new temporary workers request higher wages because they no longer have to worry about being deported.

Obviously the bill is the result of corporate collusion with government. Obviously the fence has been legislated out of existence. Obviously our politicians justify their actions saying this is the only way to secure our borders.

If this is America today there are some questions:

Why are we waging war in the rest of the world if we are unable to enforce our own borders?
If there is a shortage of qualified workers why is the medium annual compensation at historically low levels?
If a company is paying prevailing wages, why should it be concerned that the employee would go elsewhere?
Why should the US citizen believe anything politicians say? We have heard it before. Politicians pass laws without funding them. They say they will do something and they never get around to it.

The best way to fix the immigration problem is to enforce current law, fund laws passed to protect our borders, support local communities in identifying illegal immigrants and to fully prosecute all those who assist illegal immigration, including the politicians hiring illegal immigrants as maids, yard care professionals, and drivers.

Every time your President and Congress tell you that they are unable to enforce the law they are comparing America to a third world country. America is great. Do not let them say, or act, otherwise!

Department of Homeland Security – The Good, Bad and the Ugly

Interesting that a Clint Eastwood film could so easily describe our Department of Homeland Security.

The Good: The department of Homeland Security has some really good people, trying to protect this country and who do their jobs responsibly.

The Bad: The department of Homeland Security does some really bad and stupid things like convicting two agents for doing their job, supporting illegal immigration policies on the Mexican border, and lying to Congress. If you or I lied to Congress or to Homeland Security, for that matter, right now we would be in jail. Remember Martha Stewart et al? Most people are convicted of lying to the justice department not for the crime for which they are being investigated. The personal interests, may I even say corruption, of the higher officials and politicians responsible for controlling Homeland Security too often take precedence over the good of the country and the direction given by the voters. Homeland Security officials have justified their actions by saying that they will not bow to the populous movement.

Just for clarity, the populous movement means the will of the people, the electorate. Yes this is you and me. Individuals in Homeland Security believe that the government should operate as they want it to, not following the desires of the people. I guess, WE THE PEOPLE, are too dumb to know what we want our government to do.

The Ugly: The department of Homeland Security does some really ugly things like losing 12+ billion dollars in Iraq and looking the other way over problems at the core of their responsibilities like port and border security just so the corporations can make a few extra bucks.

Now the politicians want a terror war tax. Why? Why are we thinking about raging war across the world when we are not capable of securing our own borders.

We would not have a terror war in the first place if we remembered that the electorate is made of living and breathing people and not of corporations. We do not need to raise taxes, we need to cut out the corporations from our political process. We need to put People back in “WE THE PEOPLE.”

Without the people, “This Land is our Land”, is not a true statement. Without the populous movement, there is no one to fight the wars or pay taxes. Perhaps the populous movement is important. The United States has lost its identity. Homeland Security seems to be an organization designed to protect corporate interests, not the people of the United States. There is good in Homeland Security perhaps we can take the good people and free them from a corrupt organization allowing them to do their jobs. We must require that our elected officials concentrate on holding responsible those corrupt individuals involved in advancing their personal agenda over the will of the people. We must require that these individuals go to jail, just as you or I would. We must remember that justice is blind and that equality is not just about color.
