Lou Dobbs – CNN what is the solution?
I was listening to CNNs Lou Dobbs this evening when he asked a naïve question, “how long will the American people stand by while politicians continue executing their personal agendas?” Unfortunately, Mr. Dobbs, the question is “what can we do?” Over seventy percent of Americans support an increase in minimum wage but to get this we must give corporate Wilder beasts tax cuts. Americans want the borders and ports secured but Congress will not do it, it will hurt their corporate pimps. Our system gives Joe citizen no recourse. We can vote for the Democrats or the Republicans. Independents have no chance given the current political donation laws. This is evidenced by the feudal fiefdoms created by the Kennedy family, the Bush Family and now the Clinton family.
History tells us that the population can be dominated, raped and pillaged for hundreds of years before taking up arms against their government. Sooner or later, WE THE PEOPLE will take up arms but much time will pass and many injustices will occur. If you, Mr. Dobbs, have an idea on how we can hold politicians responsible please let me know. Most today think that the war of change is fought in the media. Unfortunately that would be true if we had alternatives. Our choices are grim, let things continue as they are and our country’s period as a world power will soon be over. If we choose to take up arms millions will die, our infrastructure will be destroyed, and most likely we will be speaking the official language of another country.
So if there is a solution, please let us know, there are millions of us out there who see the damage our corrupt political system is wrecking on our way of life. We will react but please do not say vote for a different form of the same thing.

David, as you say, sedition is not the answer, and political reform is unlikely considering the status quo.
The most powerful force for change is the media, but their interests currently correspond to those of the corporate groups. What's left is economic collapse which would force a change - I can't see that happening.
Lexcen I am not so sure that we are not heading for serious and significant changes in our current economic situation. We have created a world economy baseed on unattainable pretenses. We are not one big happy family. Resources are distributed in economies that are not getting along. Instability would require the US to take on the role of colonization used by previous empires, something that is not feasible in today's balance of powers and we have not maintained infrastructures to guarantee minimum substinance. Disruption of trade lanes would be devastating for the US economy. Europe would do ok but the US would have some significant problems adjusting.
David, considering we are talking about a global economy, America cannot be viewed in isolation. Every action has a reaction that reverberates throughout the world, the interdependence of the globalized
world economy dictates that fact.
The G20, Davos and World Economic Forums are testimony to how the developed world synchronizes agenda and economic policy. The complexity is beyond my faculties to unravel, but I do think that viewing the US economy in isolation is somehow missing the big picture of what is happening or will tend to happen in the future.
Lexcen The world has been interdependent since the introduction of man. Great nations have been traders, exploration driven by commercial desires, culture exchanges along with goods. This does not mean that we should look at the world as one big happy family. Wars, desire for power, slavery, are all results of the same commercial exchange that is good for the development of the human race.
The concept that "things are different this time" is something that the foolish and greedy wish to propose in order to justify irresponsible actions. Without "it is different this time" looking at history the US political crowd (past and present) should be hanged for treason, corporations dismantled, and financial institutions fined into oblivion becuse they have acted, and continue to act, against the country's best interest.
Our ignorance has allowed the human race to do some really horrendous things. It was through ignorance and pride that Hitler and Mussolini brought the world to war. You see, for them, "this time it is different".
Before we can talk about allocation of worldwide resources we must first have a worldwide consensus on laws, type of government, rights of the world citizen, education, healthcare otherwise there is no difference between the War of the Roses and the War in Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan or any other war in the immediate future.
Free market requires that all costs associated with a good's production are in the cost of the product. Today corporations use "globalisation" to get governments to pay for some of the costs of producing the goods.
Finally, in this world of differences, there is one important lesson our politicians and corporations could learn from the great orators of time: "first take care of your own, if they are happy you can do just about anything you want."
All great Empires have been brought down from the inside...
